Raising Awareness and Capacities Campaigns

Throughout the Balkan areas and among Europe, the partnership carried out the Raising Awareness and Capacities Campaign under the Youth IMPACT project. The campaign's objectives were to increase awareness, lessen discrimination, and encourage the inclusion of visually impaired (VI) youth in the domains of education, work, and youth, hence why this campaign targeted not only youth workers, but also employers who work in several organizations such as NGOs.

Each partner organized one online webinar for representatives of institutions and national bodies, one in-person educational workshop for youth workers, and developed five articles that raised awareness through national and social media channels in an effort to involve both institutions and practitioners.

In addition to introducing the Youth IMPACT project, its goals, and its outcomes, the webinars emphasized the role that institutions play in lowering discrimination and making sure that young people with less chances are meaningfully engaged in programs and policies. The campaign improved the link between project results and public institutions that can sustain long-term change by promoting communication with decision-makers.

Youth workers' capacity-building was the main focus of the educational workshops. The workshops offered useful information and resources to enhance interaction with visually impaired youth and promote inclusive youth work. This was mostly done through the introduction of non-formal learning strategies developed throughout the project.

Each partner also developed five articles which included topic reflections and success stories of young people with visual impairments. These stories were important in tackling common myths, spreading positive messages, and raising public awareness of inclusive behavior.

Despite being carried out locally, every activity followed a common framework and reporting template, guaranteeing high quality results among the partnership. Further, participants of both the webinars and workshops responded to a questionnaire, providing feedback on the work presented during the activities, as well as the work done so far throughout the project.

The Raising Awareness and Capacities Campaigns are a significant milestone for the Youth IMPACT project, but also an important beginning. The partnership has established the groundwork for further collaboration and cooperation among different actors for promoting inclusion in the fields of youth, education, and employment by expanding knowledge, increasing competencies, and eliminating misconceptions.
